Hand fed pigs

What a fabulous afternoon and evening yesterday. Ben came round to the hotel at about 16.00, drove us round to Paula's mum Ave, and there we stayed until 22.30, drinking champagne and the most fabulous white. The white was an organic Ossian 2006, made from the verdejo grape and in my opinion was comparable to the finest white Burgundy. This is the white wine grape of the future. You read it here first.

We munched our way through loads of smoked salmon, cut Spanish style about a half centimetre thick, but what really blew my mind was the ham. Forget French and Italian ham, the Spanish are the experts. This ham was cured from pigs fed on acorns and had the sweetest most delicate flavour that you could imagine. But then so it should at 145 euros a kilo! Buy some here.

And the purpose of the visit? Kate was gorgeous and somehow managed to sleep through all the noise we were making. Good effort girl! Keep that up and you'll have two very happy parents.
